Zaczynamy od imprez przygotowawczych przed pierwszym turniejem wielkoszlemowym - Australian Open, który w tym roku rozpocznie się już 18. stycznia. Pierwsze tegoroczne zawody odbędą się w Brisbane, Chennai i Doha, a Marcin i Mariusz zagrają w tym ostatnim. Turniej w Doha w Katarze nigdy nie był szczęśliwy dla naszych zawodników - przeważnie odpadali w pierwszej rundzie i tak też było w ubiegłym roku. Tym razem w pierwszym meczu sezonu Marcinowi i Mariuszowi, którzy są rozstawieni z numerem trzecim, przyjdzie się zmierzyć z Hiszpanami, Markiem Lopezem i Rafaelem Nadalem.

A new season kicks off this week and we are beginning with preparatory tournaments before the Australian Open, a grand slam tournament that starts 18th January. This year’s first tournaments are held in Brisbane, Chennai and Doha, and Marcin and Mariusz are playing in the last one. The tournament in Doha, Qatar, has never been good for our players - they were usually losing in the first rounds, like last year. This time, in their first match of the new season, Marcin and Mariusz, seeded with number three, are going to face the Spaniards, Marc Lopez and Rafael Nadal.

Niestety, Marcin i Mariusz nie wyjdą z grupy w kończącym sezon turnieju w Londynie. W trzecim meczu fazy grupowej nasi debliści przegrali 4/6 4/6 z Czechami, Frantiskiem Cermakiem i Michalem Mertinakiem i ostatecznie pożegnali się z sezonem 2009.

W drugim meczu fazy grupowej Marcin i Mariusz ulegli Maheshowi Bhupathiemu z Indii i Markowi Knowlesowi z Bahamów. Mimo udanego początku i zwycięstwa w pierwszym secie 6/3, set drugi nasi zawodnicy oddali również 3/6. W tie-breaku różnicą trzech punktów zwyciężyli Bhupathi i Knowles, a ostateczny wynik spotkania to 6/3 3/6 7/10. By mieć jeszcze szanse na awans do półfinału Marcin i Mariusz muszą wygrać ostatni mecz fazy grupowej przeciwko Czechom, Frantiskowi Cermakowi i Michalowi Mertinakowi.
In the second round robin match, Marcin and Mariusz got defeated by Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Mark Knowles of the Bahamas. Our players started really well and won the first set 6/3. However, they gave away the second set 3/6 and they also lost the tie-break 7/10. In order to retain the chances of advancing to the semifinals, Marcin and Mariusz have to win the third match against Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak of the Czech Republic.
